Question 1

What is Novum Studio (As & Ds)?

Accepted Answer

Novum Studio is Novum's built-in creative suite with two apps: Audio Studio (As) — a browser DAW for recording, layering and mixing tracks with live waveforms, a 3-band EQ, volume and AutoTune, and Design Studio (Ds) — a pro graphics editor for cover art, thumbnails and social posts. Open them from your dashboard, then pick As or Ds. They're pushed updates constantly, so if there's a feature you want, tell us and watch it get added.

Question 2

Audio Studio: mixing — volume, EQ & waveforms

Accepted Answer

Every track header has a volume fader and a 3-band EQ (Low / Mid / High) — drag Low up for more bass, pull Mid to shape presence, push High for air and crispness. As you record you'll see the live input waveform, and every clip draws its own waveform so you can see exactly what you're editing. Combine EQ with the per-track mute/solo to get a clean mix.

Question 3

Audio Studio: how do I start a track?

Accepted Answer

Audio Studio opens empty. Hit 'Add a voice track' to record yourself, or 'Import a beat' to drop in an instrumental. Every new track you add is automatically armed (the red Record button records onto it). Want to record onto a different track? Right-click that track and choose 'Record on this track'. Your projects save and show up under 'Continue' so you can pick up where you left off.

Question 4

Audio Studio: how do I import a beat or audio?

Accepted Answer

Two ways: (1) Double-click anywhere on a track's lane to drop an audio file straight into that track at that spot. (2) Use 'Import audio (new track)' in the track list to bring a file in on a brand-new track. WAV, MP3, M4A and more are accepted. The Voice/Audio track itself is for recording — importing always lands on a lane you point at or a fresh track.

Question 5

Audio Studio: recording your voice + AutoPitch

Accepted Answer

Add a voice track (or arm one with right-click), then hit the red Record button — allow your mic when asked. Play back any existing tracks record in time with them. If a track's 'Tune' toggle is on, your take is AutoPitched to the song Key/Scale you set up top the moment it lands. You can also select any clip and press 'AutoPitch' to snap it to key after the fact.

Question 6

Audio Studio: editing clips (cut, copy, paste, duplicate, drag)

Accepted Answer

Click a clip to select it. Right-click it for Copy, Duplicate, Paste and Delete. You can also drag a clip left/right to move it in time (it snaps to the beat), or drag it up/down onto another track. Grab the pitch slider on a selected clip to shift it in semitones. Use the Cut button up top to remove a selected clip.

Question 7

Audio Studio: moving & organising tracks

Accepted Answer

Each track header has up/down arrows to reorder it, M (mute) and S (solo) buttons, a volume slider, a 'Tune' AutoPitch toggle, and a record-arm dot. Rename a track by typing in its name field. Tracks are unlimited and the timeline auto-scrolls and extends as your song gets longer, so keep layering as long as you like.

Question 8

Audio Studio: the instruments (Keyboard, Drum Pads, Sampler)

Accepted Answer

Open the Instruments dock at the bottom. Keyboard is a playable synth (pick a timbre). Drum Pads trigger kick/snare/hat/clap/808. Sampler lets you load a one-shot and play it pitched across the keys. Hit 'Record' in the dock, play a performance, and it renders onto a new track in your timeline.

Question 9

Audio Studio: noise gate & lyrics with November

Accepted Answer

Select a clip, open the Lyrics panel and set the Noise gate slider, then press 'Gate' up top to strip background hiss/silence. In the same panel you can paste your lyrics or tap 'Write with November' to have Novum's AI write or continue them in your style. You can even type commands like 'delete track 2' or 'rename track 1 to Hook' and November edits your session.

Question 10

Audio Studio: saving projects & exporting

Accepted Answer

Tap Save to name and store your project — it's kept on your device and reappears under 'Continue' with all your tracks and audio intact. Export a full mixdown with 'WAV', or hit 'Distribute' to download it and jump straight into creating a release.

Question 11

Design Studio: making your first design

Accepted Answer

When you open Design Studio it asks 'What do you want to make?' — pick a YouTube thumbnail, Instagram post, Story/Reel, Cover art, or a Custom canvas. You can change the size anytime. Add text, elements and images, then export a PNG when you're done.

Question 12

Design Studio: Elements, Upload & Stock photos

Accepted Answer

Use the left toolbar: Text adds editable text; Elements opens shapes (box, circle, triangle, arrow, line, star); Upload adds your own image; Stock opens a large library of free, royalty-free stock photos. Click any element or photo to drop it on the canvas.

Question 13

Design Studio: rotating, layering & opacity

Accepted Answer

Select any object to see its controls: drag the top handle to rotate freely, or use the Rotate slider in the right panel for an exact angle. The Layers panel lets you reorder, bring to front/back, adjust opacity (great for watermarks/overlays), duplicate and delete. Right-click for quick actions too.

Question 14

Which plan do I need for As and Ds?

Accepted Answer

Design Studio (Ds) is $10.99/mo on its own, and Novum Studio Full Access ($24/mo) unlocks both Design Studio and Audio Studio. Audio Studio (As) isn't sold on its own — it comes bundled: in Full Access, in every Artist management plan, and in the Established ($9.99) and Record Label ($29.99) distribution plans. Content Creator plans include Design Studio. You can cancel or pause anytime from Settings → Plan & billing. There are no locked 'pro' features inside the apps, and updates keep coming.

Question 15

Design Studio: removing a background

Accepted Answer

Select an image layer on your canvas, then click the eraser icon (Remove background) in the left toolbar. Novum cuts the subject out right on your device — nothing is uploaded — and the image becomes a transparent PNG layer you can place over any background. The very first time you use it, your browser downloads the cut-out model (a few seconds on a good connection); after that it's quick. Tip: turn on 'Transparent' in Props if you want to export the cut-out with no background at all.

Question 16

Design Studio: the Magnetic Lasso

Accepted Answer

The Magnetic Lasso lets you trace around anything in a photo and it snaps to the edges for you. Select an image layer, click the lasso icon in the left toolbar, then click and drag around your subject — the dotted line clings to strong edges like a face, a shoe or a logo. When you let go, choose 'Cut out' to keep only what's inside the lasso, or 'Erase' to delete that area. Hit the X to cancel. Works best on images uploaded from your device.

Question 17

Audio Studio: the master visualizer & waveforms

Accepted Answer

Up in the transport bar there's a live master visualizer — a spectrum of bars plus an oscilloscope line — that dances to your mix while it plays, so you can see your low end and loudness at a glance. Every clip on the timeline draws a detailed waveform (longer clips get more detail), and while recording you'll see your live mic input in red. If a clip looks flat, it's quiet — bring up its volume or the track fader.

Question 18

What is Novum?

Accepted Answer

Novum is a digital-first management platform for artists, brands and content creators. It's not a record label or a company you sign your life to — it's a service that handles distribution, royalties, promotion, analytics and strategy for you, on plans you control. You keep your ownership; Novum operates the business side and takes only the agreed percentage tied to your plan.

Question 19

What is Novum's full name?

Accepted Answer

Novum's original full name is November's Sound. That's exactly why the in-house AI is called November — he carries the original name of the platform.

Question 20

What does the Novum logo mean? Is it a pause bar?

Accepted Answer

The Novum logo doubles as an '11' — the 11th month, November — a deliberate nod to November's Sound and to the AI, November. A lot of people read it as a pause/play bar, and the founder liked that dual meaning, so it was kept on purpose. So it's both: an 11 and a pause.

Question 21

What does 'Novum' mean?

Accepted Answer

'Novum' comes from the Latin for 'new' — a new thing, a fresh start. It reflects the platform's whole point: a new, independent way to get your music and brand out without the old-industry gatekeeping. New month, new sound, new movement — November's Sound.

Question 22

How do I create an account?

Accepted Answer

Hit Get Started and pick your path — Artist, Creator, Just distribution, or Just November AI. Choose a plan, create your login, and you're in. Paid plans take you to secure checkout first; November Free is instant. Partner (management) plans start with a short inquiry — tell us what you need and your budget, and a real person from the team gets back to you by email.

Question 23

Which plan is right for me?

Accepted Answer

Just want your music in stores? Distribution starts at $1.99/mo (Underground) — you keep 100% of royalties on every plan; Established ($9.99) adds all platforms, 2 primary artists and Audio Studio; Record Label ($29.99) is unlimited artists. Want the AI? November is free (20 messages a day) or $12/mo for November Pro with unlimited text and voice. Want real people managing you? Artist Partner and Creator plans give you a manager, strategy and a team — see Management Services on the Plans page.

Question 24

What do I see on my dashboard?

Accepted Answer

Your dashboard is built around what you signed up for. Artists and labels get Home, Distribution, Roster (your artists), Analytics, Novum AI and the Studio apps. Content Creators get Home, Analytics, Novum AI, Design Studio, the A/B Tester, Video Assessment and the Video Editor — distribution and the artist roster are hidden since they're for music releases. Partner plans also get Meetings with your manager.

Question 25

I think someone logged into my account — what do I do?

Accepted Answer

1) Change your password immediately from Settings. 2) If you're locked out, use 'Forgot password' on the login screen to get a reset link by email. 3) Contact the Novum team via Support in your dashboard so we can lock the account and review recent activity. Never share your password — Novum staff will never ask for it.

Question 26

How do I reset my password?

Accepted Answer

On the login page tap 'Forgot password', enter your email, and we'll send a secure reset link from the Novum Accounts Manager. Admins can also trigger a reset for you if you reach out to Support.

Question 27

My account was stolen. Can Novum help?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Contact Support from any device or email the team. We can verify ownership, lock the account, reset access and restore your plan. The faster you report it, the faster we can secure it.

Question 28

How do I cancel my plan?

Accepted Answer

Go to Settings → Plan & billing → Cancel plan. Cancellation takes effect right away and your dashboard locks until you pick a new plan. Payments already made are non-refundable per our Terms.

Question 29

How do I upgrade or switch plans?

Accepted Answer

Settings → Plan & billing → choose a plan. You'll be taken to secure checkout, and your dashboard updates to the new plan once payment clears.

Question 30

What are the current plans and prices?

Accepted Answer

Management Services: Artist Partner & Partner Pro (custom, inquiry), Creator Independent ($7.99/mo) and Creator Partner (inquiry). Distribution: Underground $1.99/mo, Established $9.99/mo, Record Label $29.99/mo — all keep 100% of royalties. November AI: Free, or November Pro $12/mo. Novum Studio: Design Studio $10.99/mo or Full Access (Audio + Design) $24/mo. Annual billing is available on most plans for a better rate.

Question 31

How do I upgrade November to Pro?

Accepted Answer

Standalone November Pro passes are closed while November is in development. To get the full November, choose a management plan or Established/Record Label distribution in Settings → Plan & billing. Existing November Pro members keep access until their plan ends.

Question 32

How do I upload music to Novum?

Accepted Answer

Go to Distribution and tap the + (New release). Step 1 — upload your cover art (square, at least 1400x1400, max 20MB, no logos or social handles) and add each track with its WAV file (16-bit/44.1kHz or higher; MP3s aren't accepted) plus any beat lease/clearance file. Step 2 — enter your release title (just the title, no artist name or version), version if it's a remix/live/acoustic, genre, and artist(s) as primary or featuring. Step 3 — pick your stores and territories (Worldwide by default). Step 4 — review and submit. Your team checks it, then it's delivered.

Question 33

What do the release fields mean? (Release Editor manual)

Accepted Answer

Title: your single/EP/album name only — no artist name, version or special characters. Version: e.g. 'Jean Paul Remix' (leave blank for originals). Genres: a primary genre supported by all stores, plus an optional subgenre. Artwork: >=1400x1400 (up to 6000x6000), <=20MB, no store logos or social handles. Artists: add each primary artist in its own field and featured artists as 'featuring' — one artist per field, consistent spelling. Optional: UPC/EAN (auto if blank), Label name (defaults to the primary artist), Catalogue number, Recording location (city, country — helps your PRO pay you), Original release date (only if previously released), (C) Copyright rep, (P) Master owner (defaults to label, else artist).

Question 34

What do the release statuses mean?

Accepted Answer

Pending — submitted and waiting for the Novum team to review. Approved — cleared and queued for delivery. Delivered — live/sent to the stores you selected. Modification needed — we need a change; check the note on the release and resubmit. Rejected — it couldn't go out as-is (usually rights/artwork/metadata); the note explains why.

Question 35

Do I need Musixmatch for lyrics?

Accepted Answer

Add lyrics to each track in the editor and we'll send them to as many stores as possible. For Spotify and Instagram lyric sync specifically, create a free Musixmatch account and upload/sync your lyrics there once the release is live. Label explicit tracks as explicit.

Question 36

How does the release date work?

Accepted Answer

Choose 'as soon as possible' (live in ~2 hours to 5 days depending on the platform) or set a specific date at least one week out so we have time to deliver everywhere. If you're moving a release from another distributor, tick 'previously distributed' and set the original release date so it stays in order on your artist pages.

Question 37

How do royalties work?

Accepted Answer

Novum distributes your music and pays out 100% of what it receives from third-party stores/DSPs — Novum does not take a cut of your royalties on any plan. If those third parties pay nothing, there's nothing to pay out. Royalties for a release unlock once that individual release passes 2,000 streams.

Question 38

What is November / Novum AI?

Accepted Answer

November is Novum's own in-house AI — a creative brain for artists, brands and creators. He writes lyrics, plans releases, sources beats on BeatStars and YouTube, helps brands with strategy, and coaches creators. He's tuned per plan and only works for Novum members.

Question 39

Is Novum AI free?

Accepted Answer

Yes — anyone with a Novum account can use November free: 20 messages, 2 photo reviews and 5 beat searches a day. November Pro ($12/mo) unlocks unlimited messages, real-time voice and more. The full November is also included with Novum management plans and the Established and Record Label distribution plans.

Question 40

What counts toward my daily limits?

Accepted Answer

Every message counts as one; very long messages (500+ characters) count as two. Photo reviews and beat finds also have daily allowances on some plans. Limits reset every day at midnight UTC and your remaining messages show under the chat box.

Question 41

How do I talk to November out loud?

Accepted Answer

Voice comes with the full November. Clear the message box and tap the sound-wave button, then tap the mic and just talk — November hears when you stop and answers out loud. The grey orb moves with the actual voice. Everything said lands in the chat so you can copy it later. On iPhone/Android, allow microphone access when asked.

Question 42

Is my data shared with other companies?

Accepted Answer

November is protected by Novum Security: before a request is processed, names, emails, phone numbers, links and account details are stripped out, and only a short generic style brief is used — Novum's own personality work and training notes stay with Novum. Voice audio is processed by our voice partner to speak replies. The free beta runs entirely on Novum's servers.

Question 43

Does November remember our chats?

Accepted Answer

Yes — Relevance 360 keeps the recent conversation and, when a chat gets long, writes a running summary that keeps your lyrics, hooks, song titles and decisions word for word. That way you can keep building a song across a long session without repeating yourself.

Question 44

Can November make charts and diagrams?

Accepted Answer

Yes. When numbers or steps help, November drops real bar, line or pie charts and flow diagrams right into his reply — great for streams, splits, release timelines and rollout plans.

Question 45

Can November read links and photos?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Paste any link (a song, an article, a channel) and November opens it and reads the page before answering. Tap the image icon to send a thumbnail or cover and he'll give you an honest read on how it'll perform — composition, readability, contrast, emotion. Photo uploads count toward your daily photo limit.

Question 46

A/B Tester: thumbnails, titles, captions & hooks

Accepted Answer

Open A/B Tester from your dashboard. Pick Thumbnails to upload two images (A and B) — November actually looks at both, scores each out of 10 for click-through appeal (faces & emotion, readability at small size, contrast, focal point), names the winner and gives one concrete tweak. You can add the planned title under each thumbnail for context. Switch to Caption, Title or Hook to test two pieces of text the same way.

Question 47

Video Assessment: getting feedback on a video

Accepted Answer

Upload a video file and Novum samples frames evenly across it — right on your device, only still frames are sent — then November grades the HOOK (0–10), PACING, RETENTION RISKS and gives 3 fixes plus an overall score. No file handy? Paste a YouTube/TikTok/IG link and describe what happens in the first few seconds. The more context you give, the sharper the notes.

Question 48

Video Editor: trim, cut, reorder & export

Accepted Answer

Open Video Editor and hit 'Add clips' to bring in one or more videos. Click a clip on the timeline to select it, then use Trim start / Trim end to cut the dead air. Press Split to cut a clip in two at the current playback point, use the arrows to reorder clips and Delete to remove one. Add a caption (top or bottom) that's burned into the video. Press Export — the edit renders in your browser and downloads as a video file. Keep the tab open while it exports; long edits take about as long as the video itself.

How can we help?
